A List

Hi. Is anyone even out there anymore? I haven't been here in forever, but I figured it was time to jump back in. It's not like we've been busy or anything, I mean you haven't missed much. Not really. Here's a quick list to get us all caught up….

1) Finn left for college. It was crazy and surreal. We loaded him, four bags and one baby into the car and drove him to his dorm and LEFT HIM THERE. It was exciting and totally bizarre and a little sad, but mostly just bizarre. The sadness didn't really hit until after the fact. After we got home and all the little details of him being gone really started to sink in. He's doing great though and is very sweet about face-timing and texting and we even got him to come home one weekend for a quick overnight visit. The fact that he's only about an hour away has helped to make the entire transition much more manageable indeed.

2) Everyone else started school (except Oisin and Aislinn of course~slackers). Ruari started high school and the twins switched from their Montessori school to Micah's school, but then 2 weeks later Nuala switched back to the Montessori school. So it's pretty much just craziness. Mine.

3) Oisin turned 2.

4) Aislinn got a tooth and bit the crap out of me.

And there you have it, I think that's about it. Love you guys, all two of you (hi mom).

Tuck And Roll

There is no time for anything. Everything just keeps coming. Nothing is finished or completed to satisfaction, it is honestly just tuck and roll time until the next wave hits and I can't sugar coat this. I am just trying to stay afloat. Luckily, for every long night there is a quiet late start morning. For every irrational argument there is a sincere and gentle apology. For every chore there is a field trip. For every little thing that seems to be tipping me over the edge there is in fact a counterpart pulling us back up to the surface, reminding me that this life is well rounded and robust and that it's okay to use a floatie once in a while. Now if they would only make Puddle Jumpers for adults.

Ruari started high school today, Finn is leaving for college in two short weeks and everyone else will be back in school three weeks from tomorrow. We're going to tuck and roll through these last few weeks and try not to worry so much about the mountain of busy work that never ever shrinks and just try to focus on the stuff that summer is made of.
