Bits and Pieces

You know how sometimes you go to the beach and you decide to be brave and bring along your giant snazzy camera because you just know that your pictures are going to be amazing and so you say, "sand be damned, we're going digital today and shooting something for above the mantel!"?

And then you get home and it turns out you could have just stuck with Instagram after all?

Although I do love this one, even with the blur, it makes me giggle. Doubt she'll let me hang it up poster size above the fireplace though.

So yeah, we went to the beach and did beach things, isn't that what you do in summer?

Plus, Saoirse really did have a little bit of fun after the horror passed. She was happy as a lark to sit in her little sand castle and give her princess a sand bath.

We escaped to the farm this weekend for a little bit of R&R, unfortunately Brendan got sick for pretty much the entire visit, but hey we still got out of the city.

I'm on another knitting streak and have finished a few hats recently. I told myself I'd stick to neutrals, but this one sort of screams "boy". I should make a pink one just in case...

First time ordering from Knit Picks, but I've seen a lot of Chroma projects lately and I am convinced that I will be making the cutest legwarmers on the planet with this stuff very soon.

But first one last little "neutral-ish" (well, it was in my head, but looking at it now it is also screaming boy at me, ah well earth tones are for everyone!) hat I finished last night.

First time trailing the yarn along for the color changes, and aside from the awkwardness of having to work with all 3 balls at once it went fairly smoothly. This one I worked in Cascade 220 Superwash and I think I might make some leggings to go along with it. I'm not crazy about the thin stripes but I'm hoping they'll grow on me.

Last night I found Little Miss quietly tinkering around with her imagination. I almost didn't want to interrupt her.

Almost.

Happy Tuesday lovely world. Michaele and Maro are flying in from France today and we're super excited to finally meet our nephew/cousin!!! (plus we missed Michaele too, but let's face it we really want to see that baby!).

Bubblers

Are we getting ready for ballet class or what?

No, just struggling to get a few precious drops of water on a very hot day. Hello summer.

We went to the Botanical Gardens today to stroll among the flowers and ferns and while it was lovely along the trails....

And there were FISH...(what's not to love about that? Aside from my irrational fear of water and the assumption that children will indefinitely fall into lily pad ponds)...

Also, cute babies to peek at, and who doesn't like peeking at babies?!....

Plus, yeah, there were a few flowers as well...

If you ask Saoirse what her favorite part of the adventure was, she will let you know it was in fact the bubbler (or water fountain for pretty much everyone else from anywhere else).

Yes, the bubbler wins this one. With the fact that no one fell in the fish pond coming in a close second!

P.S.
Here's a totally random shot of my cutie pie cousin Sawyer. He was not at the gardens with us or probably even near a bubbler today (WI are we really the only ones?), but this picture has sort of just been hanging out in cyber-nowhere just begging to be seen on account of all the adorableness.
That's all.

Little Bug

Just in case you were wondering, someone had a birthday recently...

Hard to believe that it's already been three years since June8ug became Saoirse. Happy birthday little bug, you are quite the lady these days.

(we went looking for frogs on her special day)

So basically, she's awesome. You don't want to mess with her, she's got a hairy eyeball when need be. You don't want to wake her up in the morning or she will fly right off the wrong side of the bed. And whatever you do, please don't underestimate her for one second just because she's been the "baby" of the family for the past three years.

She loves to cuddle still and has the cutest voice on the planet. She watches and listens to everything and doesn't miss a single beat. There is comedy here and she is often times hosting the show. She can get just about anyone to crack a smile. Even on the serious days.

Good grief am I ever thankful that she is ours. I remember how nervous I was about adding another little one to our family when the twins were still so young, and I laugh at the memory of that poor sleepless lady and I thank all the stars in the sky for sharing this treasure with us.

And I'll tell ya right now, she's going to give us a run for the money...
