Ringing it in

Well, we did it, we made it to midnight and the kids had a blast. Finn, Sidhe and Ruari phoned from Maryland, and made the rounds talking with everyone, including the babies who were rather perplexed by the whole thing even though they listened rather intently. Then off to bed for thing one and thing two, while the rest of us geared up to greet the new year.

We lit a fire, made some pop corn and played a bunch of board games. Sorry saw us all the way until 10 and Scattergories led us right up until 11. If I had been thinking ahead, I would have bumped the clocks up and tuned into CNN right then and there to watch the ball drop and get it all over with an hour early, but what fun would that have been?

Instead we all piled into the 'family' bed, something that is virtually non-existant in our house when everyone is present, and it was a tight squeeze even with just the five of us, to watch an old black and white film "The Hound of Baskervilles"...........Everyone was so caught up in the movie, except for me of course~I was asleep, that we almost missed the countdown. A little bubbly for all, poor Micah was glassy eyed by this point and then off to BED! Phew, I remember when my New Year's celebrations were a lot more rowdy and a lot less fun.
